Heavy Leakage On Sifter With Large Throw

A global leader in the manufacture of home and personal care products was experiencing problems with heavy leakage on a sifter with a significant throw (35mm each side). The sifter was part of their detergent line and the silicon and cloth connectors they were using were fastened with hose clamps that constantly leaked and regularly tore off.

They were losing a lot of production time to replace the torn connectors, and cleaning up the spilled product was an ongoing labour cost. The company were looking for a leak-free solution that was durable and easy to install, so they turned to the BFM® fitting system.

The Challenge

The detergent-line sifter has a considerable throw of 35mm in each direction, which is very demanding on the flexible connectors. The company was using cloth and silicon connectors fastened with hose clamps.

The high oscillation caused frequent tearing of the connectors and constant vibration throughout the sifter also caused leakage of the powder throughout the surrounding area. The powder leaking into the factory environment was also a health and safety concern for staff.

Downtime to repair the failed connectors and the associated manpower required to clean up the spilled product was a major issue. They needed a durable leak-free solution.

The Solution

With the help of local Distributor Airlock India Pvt Ltd, the appropriate measurements were calculated and a BFM® fitting flexible connector system with a durable Seeflex 040E connector was installed on the detergent line sifter.

The result has been a 100% sealed connection with no leakage at all, despite the large sifter throw involved. The snap-fit installation of the distinctive blue-banded connectors makes it easy for staff to remove, clean and replace when required, without the need for any tools.

Downtime has been dramatically reduced as there is no longer replacements or clean-up required, and the factory environment is much safer for staff.
